Well, there haven't been many updates this term, but that's because we've been working so darn hard on our fantastic upcoming concert! That's right, your favorite friendly FUtones are presenting our end-of-fall-term concert on DECEMBER 1st, this coming Saturday, at 8:00 p.m. We will be performing in Harper Hall, which is in Daniel Music Building on the campus of Furman University, and it's FREE! So you should definitely come hear us sing.
We'll also be selling our most recent CD, released last spring, as well as our first CD for anyone who doesn't have it yet! They both make excellent Christmas gifts. If you are interested in getting a CD and for some unspeakable reason cannot make it to our concert on Saturday, just contact the President at kira.vine@furman.edu. Give her your name and address and how many CDs you'd like, and then you can simply mail the FUtones a check and we will send you some musical goodness!
Finally, the FUtones are recording again this spring, and we appreciate any form of support in that venture -- from saying "good luck" or "I'm your biggest fan" to buying CDs to asking us to perform for you! We jump at the chance to perform for parties or other events and you can once again contact the President for more information on how to set that up. Want us to serenade your girlfriend for Valentine's Day? Sing at a surprise birthday party? Perform for an event you're planning? Let us know -- we've done it all, from Christmas parties to fundraisers to even weddings!
We hope to see you at our fall concert this Saturday!
Happy Holidays!
love,
the FUtones

NEWBIES! and Scaffold Sit
CONGRATULATIONS to our newest members!
Jackie Stucker, soprano
Shelley Jordan Martin, soprano
Kelsey Hardy, alto
Myrella Samuels, alto
Will Gray Beach, bass
These five freshmen went through our intense auditions process, survived callbacks, and were serenaded with one of the first FUtones tunes, Sweet Dreams, on the night of September 26th. They have since jumped right into rehearsals and they are learning music like crazy!
They're pretty much AWESOME and we LOVE them!!!
We know you're anxious to hear our new and improved sound, and guess what??? An opportunity is coming up TOMORROW so don't miss your chance! Pi Kappa Phi, a fraternity at Furman, is hosting their annual "Scaffold Sit" to benefit their charity, PUSHAmerica. Every year they have various people perform at Scaffold Sit, and the FUtones always love singing at this event! Catch us singing your favorites like Toxic, Teenage Dirtbag, and more at 3:30 pm outside the UC.
Don't forget to plan ahead for our winter concert on DEC 1st!
Till next time,
the FUtones

AUDITIONS!!!
Hello, FUtones fans!
Hope you were able to catch us at our performance at the contra festival Moondance on September 8th -- the crowd was one of our most receptive and we had a lot of fun!
OR, you might have seen us traipsing around White Oaks at the annual President's Picnic for the Furman freshmen, hosted by Dr. Shi. Another fun night! We think the freshman class looks like an awesome group, and we're looking forward to getting some fantastic "newbies" at auditions this year!
Speaking of auditions... here are the dates and times:
Sunday, September 23rd, from 6-8
Monday, September 24th, from 6-8
You can find us in Daniel Music Building - there will be posters and signs indicating where we are and where you should go to find us! The audition process is very simple and painless; we try our best to make it a fun experience. After all, you're coming to sing for us, and probably our favorite thing is singing and enjoying music. So everybody wins.
Monday night, we'll decide on the people we'd like to invite to callbacks, our final round of auditions. We'll let all those who have auditioned know about our decisions, and those who are invited to callbacks will get some music to prepare. Tuesday night there will be FUtones available to help teach that music if you want help, and Wednesday night we will hold callbacks. That same night we'll let everyone know the final decisions, and Thursday (September 27th) we'll have our official first rehearsal with the newbies!
So that's basically how the audition process works. We're looking for all vocal parts, as well as new vocal percussionists, so if you don't sing but you love to beatbox, then please come show us your stuff! If you have questions, or for some reason you can't make either audition date, let us know! You can reach the President at kira.vine@furman.edu, and you can reach the Musical Director at emily.poe@furman.edu.
ALSO - look for us at the Activities Fair this Thursday from 4:30-6:30! Come by, say hi, and see what we're all about!

Up and Running
Welcome to the new FUtones "website"! Due to Furman being slow and difficult, rather than waiting for them to allow us to have a website we will just use this blog to let all you FUtones aficionados know about our performances, etc.
As it is the middle of summer, there's not TOO much to tell at the moment -- but be on the lookout! Furman's President's Picnic is on September 9th, and then we're back in business for a busy year. Meanwhile, be in touch with any of our members (or simply comment on this blog) if you would like one of our two fantastic CDs (one of which is STILL NEW -- released spring 2007)!
See you soon!
love,
the FUtones
